2D1N KSL + Legoland Day 2

06 July 2014

It's Legoland day!

To fuel up for the adventure, we indulged in the sumptuous breakfast buffet.

I especially like the breakfast style fried kway tiao, spiced up with lots and lots of nasi lemak chilli. Really shiok!

There was also the egg and prata counter. The prata curry is one of the better ones I have tasted.

We were picked up at 9 am to Legoland. There was another hiccup when we proceeded to collect our tickets. The whole group was made to wait at the counter while the staff sorted out the problem.

Taking a cursory glance at the map in hand, we decided to do a clockwise trek ending at MiniLand at the centre of the park.

Couldn’t get directions out of the sleeping man so we approached Einstein.

After trying on a few harmless but nauseating rides (Technic Twister & Merlin’s Challenge), we stumbled upon a games booth swarmed with cute baby dragon plushies that scream “bring me home!”.

And yeah, we responded to their calls despite knowing very well that these game booths are usually rigged and made to look a million times easier than it actually is.

With RM$10, we got 2 balls. And to win the plushie, we had to get both of them to stay inside the bin.

The catch? The bins have been lined with super elastic rubber which almost ensures that the ball would bounce straight out when you throw it in.

Not unexpectedly, we left RM$20 poorer without the plushie but with a better idea of how to get the ball to stay in the bin.

Despite my fear of heights, the Observation Tower looked sturdy enough so we went on it.

The ascend was smooth but on reaching the top, the compartment came to a hard halt which caused it to wobble a little.

The aerial views of the theme park weren't spectacular but to be fair, I wasn't in the right mind to enjoy them.

After revolving for a while, the power appeared to be cut as we stayed suspended 41m above ground with no aircon for what seemed like eternity before descending safely.

We visited the 4D Theater twice. The first time was disappointing and the second was disastrous. There were the usual effects of wind and water but their application was poorly coordinated.

Instead of the usual sprinkle, water came pouring down leaving us soaked to the skin. And as if that is not enough to make us catch a cold, the fans came blasting to send us shivering in our wet clothes.

What's worse was at the end of the show, they blatantly dumped the excess water on the crowd as we scampered for the exit.

For the first time, we had to go to the toilet to dry up after a 4D movie.

We had lunch at Pizza Mania, settling for the adult combo meal (pizza or pasta + soup + soft drink) at RM$35. We had the Hawaiian pizza and seafood pasta which were average. We didn't drink much of the soup as it was very salty.

Our favorite station was the Lost Kingdom - a laser blasting adventure ride. Armed with laser guns, we fired at evil mummies as we traversed through the labyrinth of the ancient Egyptian temple.

The hits are registered as points which are displayed on the panels for bragging rights. We went on it several times as the missus tried unsuccessfully to beat me in the scores. In the final attempt, we switched sides for the missus claimed that there were more mummies on the left side where I was seated. So I went on the right.

Taking the wheel of our battery powered boat at the Boating School.

Our last stop was the Miniland as we trampled through the miniature cities and landmarks build by Lego blocks.

While we were resting, the missus was reminded of the baby dragons' cries for help and with our remaining ringgit, we set out determined to rescue one of them.

With wisdom from the previous failure, we were slightly better than before. I managed to get 2 balls in albeit in different games. But we managed to strike a deal with the game masters and walked away with Greenie after spending a total of RM$70.

Anyway, here are the tricks we picked up after paying our $70-school fees.

There are 2 ways of getting the ball to stay in the bin:

(1) throwing the ball with a high trajectory such that when it hits the inside of the bin, it bounces up instead of out and

(2) twisting your wrist as you throw to add a side spin which causes the ball to swirl inside the bin instead of bouncing straight out.

Now you readers, go save the baby dragons!

We were famished after our rescue mission so we returned to Pizza Mania although sensing that we may not have enough cash remaining. After consolidating our loose change, we were 20 cents short of the combo meal.

So I asked the cashier if I could pay the balance using singapore currency and she said okay. During payment, however, she simply waived the 20 cents.

So with a grateful heart and a green dragon in tow, we shared a single pizza combo meal for dinner before the coach picked up the 3 of us back to Singapore.

Saying goodbye to Legoland.
