KSL + Sanrio Hello Kitty Town 2017 Day 1

06 June 2017

June holidays are finally here!

And for our first getaway… KSL Hotel! This time we took a more free-&-easy approach.

Hotel: booked from Agoda; found better rates with Travel Delightfully; booked with TD; cancelled Agoda (S$378 nett for 2xsuperior rooms for 2 nights with breakfast).

Sanrio Hello Kitty Town: got tickets on Qoo10 (S$34.90 per ticket; children under 3 – free)

Transport: Hired private car from SGMYTAXI (S$90 per trip)

Cheese.

Our ride (Toyota Innova) came on time at 8.30 am and we cruised through customs, reaching KSL earlier than expected at 9.45 am. We tried our luck with checking in but was rejected saying that they are fully booked. So we checked in our luggage and proceeded to KSL mall for an early lunch.

Along the way we stumbled upon a bunch of UFO catcher machines. With 12 tokens for $10MYR (only 30 cents a try!), we couldn’t resist having a go!

But it's that not easy! Most of the time, even when we had a good grip, the doll would slip out before it got to the opening. But somehow mama got lucky! The bear slipped but bounced into the opening!

Mama caught me a pooh bear!

Lunch was at the good old D' Shanghai. An sumptuous spread of tim sum and wanton mee for MYR$130. While strolling by the MBO cinema, Coven caught the popcorns bubbling out from the machine and asked for popcorns. So we got the Minions Combo A for MYR$27!

Popcorn 好吃到...

Then we sent Coven for his annual driving lessons before returning to the hotel lobby for check-in.

Check-in was laborious though. We waited in line for ~40 mins. Our rooms were not ready as we had requested for connecting rooms. So we rejoined the queue for another ~40 mins.

Arranging his soft toys while waiting to check in.

Apparently they had some issues with the system on that day. The lobby was filled with irate customers and the poor front desk staff had to bear the brunt of their frustration. We finally got our rooms pass 4pm. They still didn’t have connecting superior rooms available the 2nd time so so we got upgraded to the deluxe rooms!

Our initially elation with our 22-storey rooms (good views!) quickly vanished with a long wait for the snail lifts and with the lift stopping at multiple levels before reaching the 22nd. The hotel was really packed that day as it was home to a mega church camp.

After settling down, we wasted no time in conquering the dinosaur theme park!

Mama! Dinosaur can move!

Dinner was roasted duck rice @ 阿明帝王鸭. Nothing much to rave about though.

Guess why mangosteens are not allowed in the hotel?

But no worries, we had backups: D' laksa!

Supper with a view.
