[Free & Easy] Hong Kong 2017 Day 2

06 December 2017

While we have read flattering reviews of the Shamrock Hotel breakfast buffet, the spread still left us in awe. Definitely one of the best we have ever had.

Simply look at all the yummy food! Knock yourself out!

With our tram ride booked for 2 pm, we had a leisurely paced morning loitering in the streets around the hotel.

Coming out of Shamrock Hotel, turn right to go to Tsim Sha Tsui promenade area (Esplanade equivalent) and left to Ladies and Temple Street (Bugis equivalent).

With the temple street deserted in the morning, we changed our loitering location, taking the MTR to Central Station (similar to Raffles Place) to the tall financial buildings around Central Station instead.

At 1.45pm, we met up with the Klook guide at outside Exit K together with an army of tourists and we made our ascent up to the lower peak terminus; 10 minute walk and 4 traffic lights.

Even with Klook’s Peak Tram Fast-Track Combo, we waited in queue for 20 mins for the tram up to the peak. Getting on the tram was also a turmoil. We were standing right in front of the door but somehow the tourists behind were able to shove us aside in their eagerness to snatch a seat. Yes, able men shoving aside the missus with the baby in carrier so that they can get a seat.

The ride up the peak was like a controlled roller coaster ride with amazing inclines more than 45 degrees.

Once up on the peak, we made our way to the 360 viewing platform and peered down on the charming views of Kowloon with aeroplanes emerging at regular intervals and eagles circling above the lush foliage.

It was quite late and we were tired after coming down from the peak so we got shrimp dumpling noodle takeaways for dinner and had an early night.

Innovative way of keeping the noodle and ingredients in a separate layer inside the takeaway bowl.

Bedtime story, milk milk and a good night’s sleep.
