[Dynasty Travel] 8D7N Taiwan Explorer - Day 4

Day 4 (Gaohsiung)

We set off on a long bus ride to Gaohsiung, the 2nd largest city in Taiwan. Plagued by industrial pollution, we were advised not to drink the tap water even after boiling.

The ferry to Cijin Island was an eye-opener. Motorcyclists could ride up the ferry and the deck was filled with an army of motorcycles which scrambled out on docking. Our lunch was a treat to their famous seafood which I barely touched.

After lunch, we were brought to the Lotus Lake where we strolled along the Spring and Autumn Pavilions (春秋閣) and climbed up the seven-storey Dragon and Tiger Pagodas (龍虎塔). We were told that entering the dragon's throat purifies our luck and exiting the lion's mouth traps the bad fortune in the compound.

At night, we explored the Leo Ho night market which was lined with stalls selling gross stuff e.g. animal blood, innards and exotic seafood. I paced up and down the street to look for something decent to eat and settled for some lousy chicken cutlet while the gf savoured her disgusting tomyam duck blood. We managed to buy some tasty fried mushrooms though.
